Homemade Taco Seasoning

Browse my site and you'll notice that I love making things from scratch. I haven’t made a cake from a boxed mix in quite a few years. Homemade just taste better to me, and I’d much rather serve my family something that has ingredients I can actually pronounce. Meaning no additives or preservatives.

Today I’m sharing my taco seasoning mix. It's super easy to make, takes less than 5 minutes to put together, and uses spices that most of us always have in our pantry. It also taste a lot better then those little store-bought packages of taco seasoning. Did I mention it’s way cheaper then store-bought too?

Homemade Taco Seasoning

*Three Tablespoons of Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix is equal to 1 store bought, 4-ounce package of taco seasoning mix.

1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup onion powder
1/8 cup ground cumin
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon paprika
1 Tablespoon salt

Place all of the ingredients in a jar and shake to combine.

To Use: Brown 1 pound of ground beef. Drain grease and return beef to pan.
Add 3 tablespoons of seasoning mix, along with 1/3 cup water to the beef.
Stir well and cook over medium heat until most of the water has evaporated, stirring occasionally. This should only take a few minutes.
Enjoy with your favorite tortillas and taco toppings.

Notes: *Give the seasoning mix a couple of good shakes before each use, to ensure the spices are well blended.
